Priyanka Rana and Simran Thadani were El Camino Hospital Foundation鈥檚 distinguished volunteer fundraiser honorees at the 29th annual Association of Fundraising Professionals Silicon Valley Philanthropy Day luncheon on November 16, 2017. They were acknowledged for chairing Scarlet Masquerade, the South Asian Heart Center鈥檚 gala benefit, which was held on March 18. The sold out 鈥淎ffair of the Heart鈥 at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga was attended by 304 guests and raised more than $304,450.
鈥淧riyanka and Simran have brought a high level of enthusiasm and creativity in reshaping our annual gala into an event that has successfully broken through fundraising barriers, raising more money than we ever have,鈥 says South Asian Heart Center Executive Director Ashish Mathur. 鈥淒espite their busy schedules, they have passionately pursued the cause of the South Asian Heart Center with their hearts, minds, and deeds.鈥
Also honored that day were longtime Foundation supporters Wim and Maria Roelandts, who were nominated by San Jose State University and named this year鈥檚 Outstanding Philanthropists. Wim serves on the Foundation鈥檚 board of directors, and Maria was a long time gala committee member. The couple made a leadership donation to name the Mountain View emergency department in memory of Wim鈥檚 mother and have been generous supporters of the Cancer Center. 鈥淓l Camino Hospital and the Foundation are extremely fortunate for the Roelandts鈥 exceptional commitment, involvement, and generosity,鈥 says Foundation President Jodi Barnard. 鈥淲e applaud their nomination and are truly grateful for all that they do in our community.鈥
