

A healthy, active lifestyle can reduce the risk of heart disease for older adults, and increasing their access to healthy social activities can also improve overall health and quality of life. Providing free or low-cost access to recreation, education, socialization and wellness opportunities is how Community Benefit partner LGS Recreation serves older adults in Los Gatos and the surrounding area through its 55 Plus Program.
The aims to create a sense of belonging for older adults, helping them make connections in the community. Opportunities are designed to address social, psychological, physical and cognitive needs of older adults 鈥� to increase social connectedness, decrease social isolation and combat mental health distress through leisure and recreation activities. The Senior Center also acts as a hub of information to connect older adults or caregivers with services and resources.

The LGS Recreation 55 Plus Program supports improving behavioral health, identified as a critical need in the Implementation Strategy Report and Community Benefit Plan.
