Breast cancer survival continues to rise as diagnosis and treatment improves, and 天博体育 is working with partners to help more women benefit.
Breast cancer diagnosis and treatment 鈥� such as the advanced breast health and breast cancer services offered at 天博体育 鈥� have improved dramatically in recent decades, with the overall five-year survival rate now hovering near 90%. Still, breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for women, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October serves as a reminder that further progress depends on encouraging preventive care and supporting new research.
Cancer falls into the Community Benefit program鈥檚 focus on chronic conditions, highlighted in the Implementation Strategy Report and Community Benefit Plan. Fiscal year 2025 is the third year of our program鈥檚 support for Pink Ribbon Good鈥檚 services in Santa Clara County, one of the partners featured in this issue. Pink Ribbon Good works at locations across the nation to provide immediate, tangible and practical supportive services and emotional support for those battling breast and gynecological cancer.
Preventive care is critical to early diagnosis and successful treatment, and removing barriers to lifesaving care is part of 天博体育鈥檚 mission. Our Free Mammogram Program offers mammograms and, if needed, ultrasound and biopsy to ensure all women in our area have access to these services. The Community Benefit program also helps support services provided by Latinas Contra Cancer and CancerCare Point, ensuring needed resources are available for those affected by cancer across our service area.
